History

MC3 was founded in 1991, when the company licensed a blood pump technology from the University of Michigan. MC3 worked with corporate partner licensees to successfully commercialize the blood pump for adult cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.  The MPump remains a core technology for MC3, and is being customized for a number of stand-alone and OEM applications.

MC3 has worked with universities, inventors, investors, and other medical device companies to identify early-stage technologies and to advance them toward commercialization.  Individual technologies have been transferred from MC3 to start-up companies as well as licensed to established manufacturers.

In 2008, MC3 formed its Business Accelerator, to provide a setting for new medical device businesses.

In 2012, MC3 added a cGMP Pilot Manufacturing operation to fulfill a recognized need for contract fabrication of devices for clinical trials and early product introduction.
